If you want to relocate to the Roaring Fork Valley, but you’re not sure about Aspen/Snowmass, consider Basalt.
From I-70 and merge onto Hwy 82 at Glenwood Springs. Keep driving on 82 and pass Carbondale on your right. Arrive at El Jebel, Willits, and finally Basalt.
Turn left onto Two Rivers Road and look through the trees at the Frying Pan river. Pass a modernized building and then an Art Base next to a park with an old Caboose. Veer left onto the Main St. in front of the gas station, which is called Midland Ave.
Basalt Colorado Real Estate is valuable because of the quaint, old west style of the town which offers much of what you need. Everything else can be found in the Willits shopping center.
Basalt has a public elementary school a Middle School, and a high school.
A Waldorf school is not far away. Children are also educated at Rock Bottom Ranch where they learn about agricultural practices.
Crown Mountain Park is a great place to recreate with your two or four legged friends.
Back on Midland Shop for clothes at Faboo, Heirlooms or other nearby choices. Have a date at Tempranillo or a beer at the Brick Pony.
Drive down Frying Pan road and witness the fly fisherman casting to your right.
Meandering along you’ll eventually reach the camping and boating paradise of Ruedi Reservoir. You can find some incredible vacation homes if you’re a fly fisherman, sailor, boater, camper or nature lover.
On the west side of Highway 82, ranches dot the farmland.
There are a couple of subdivisions with single family homes around Basalt.
There are high end homes with great views in a neighborhood called Aspen Junction.
You can buy a new build, or a new townhome in Basalt. There are a few in town lots and remodeling opportunities.
The development called Willits town center nearby. If you want an urban feel, you can find it with a loft above shops. There are also new duplexes and single family homes are in this area. There’s a Whole Foods here.

If you drive to a higher elevation on the east side of Basalt you’ll arrive in a private mountainous community of ranches called Missouri Heights. This is where your larger acreage properties are or horse properties.
